Puppy foolishness

An unsolicited (and unpaid) endorsement

by Kathi D on March 3, 2009

You know that chain of stores that sells the awesome and oh so expensive dog treats? Three Dog Bakery? Well, you can give your very own little darlings some of those pricey munchies without spending a fortune, because they made a cookbook so that you can whip up some doggy goodness right there in your [...]

Brooklyn’s knitting redux

by Kathi D on February 27, 2009

This lovely dishcloth was nearly done, when I put it down to go to the kitchen for a moment. The last I saw of it was a single strand of orange yarn streaming out through the dog door. Those dogs are too fast for me.
Sometimes.

The further adventures of Butter Boy

by Kathi D on February 11, 2009

When we last checked in with Barkley, he was on the kitchen table eating butter. It was a mystery to me how he got there, but I am starting to get some hints.
I was soaking in the hot tub while keeping guard over the towel and flip-flops I left on the top step. Brooklyn and [...]

You can’t keep a “good” dog down

by Kathi D on January 27, 2009

Keeping the pups “quiet” post-surgery has been a bit challenging. Sometimes it works.

I have been trying and trying to find this clip, but it took the superior skills of my friend Karen to find it and give it to me as an early Christmas gift.
I was looking for it because we often call Brooklyn “Whatever, I do what I want.” Barkley does whatever he wants too, but [...]

Aloha to the burbs

by Kathi D on November 24, 2008

We have left the burbs and landed in a supersecret location for some R&R, no tortoises or teddy bears allowed. I can’t say yet where it is (or then it wouldn’t be secret) but I will say that Bonnie has been here before and she is praying that the puppies don’t embarrass us.
Well, that they [...]

We three hicks: What threatens us

by Kathi D on November 20, 2008

No longer a threat: wooden dogs.
(These dogs are the actual likenesses of Bronco and Bonnie. Yes, down to Bronco’s one up ear and one down ear. The bigger bench also includes our birds and torts and turtles. Made by the talented David Ross of Santa Fe, New Mexico.)

Moderate threat: teddy bears.

Extreme threat, requiring extended sessions [...]

We three hicks: The burb-walk

by Kathi D on November 19, 2008

The pups have an excuse. They have been raised as country hicks. I, on the other hand, have some burb experience, so I should be an expert at the burb-walk. My skills are a little rusty, but like riding a bicycle, it all came back to me. The criss-crossing of two dogs, tying up my [...]
