Every time I think about blogging lately, my next thought is “Need sleep.”
It doesn’t help that everywhere I look, everyone is writing or talking or blogging or tweeting about sleep. It wasn’t that long ago that everybody was bragging about how little sleep they got, but now it’s all about getting your full eight hours every single night. And then taking a nice nap every afternoon.
I’m all about the nap. In fact, most nights I lie in bed awake, thinking of how nice it’s going to be to take a nap tomorrow.
Anyway. Here are some nice and arty rainy day photos that Rick snapped around the Nut Farm the other day.
Oh, and Bonnie actually ate dog food today. A miracle.

Naps are spectacular. I’ve apologized to my mom for fighting her on them when I was a kid.
I’ve never been a person who can take a nap. I wake up disoriented and never get oriented! And I don’t sleep much, either, esp. since I reached the lovely age of 50. I’ve taken the stand that sleep is overrated. Please don’t tell me otherwise.
Sleep — an ongoing battle for me….. since I work a lot at my desk at night, and have to get up every weekday by 4:20am, sometimes, I just skip it, and go to bed early the next night….. i like naps too, but they never are able to last more than about 40 mins, due to some interruption…
your “nut farm” looks fabulous!
I never seem to be able to get my full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
So glad that Bonnie is feeling better enough to eat dog food now!
Wow the nut farm looks good. What’s that cool building that’s made of redwood. Can’t wait to check it out.
Whats a nap?
I don’t know what has been wrong with me lately, but I’ve been going to sleep about 7:30 in the evening. This is beyond pathetic! And then about 3 in the afternoon I am pretty sure I am going to die because I can’t nap. Guh!
And please tell Bonnie that she is not properly taking advantage of this situation and I’m a little disappointed in her. By now she should be demanding steak. Give her kisses! I hope she is feeling better.
I love naps. I could sleep anywhere at any time – except occasionally in my own bed at the appropriate bed-time hour.
6, maybe 6 1/2 hours a night, no naps. My eyes are always red and my bed is almost always unmade. I’m a mess.
Your rancho looks like a park! So beautiful. Plus, I was looking for the PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAILS AND AVOID ANY CONTACT WITH WILDLIFE signs, but I didn’t see any. So I peed in the bushes.
And I forgot to say what I came here to tell you: I put your great iPad comment into a fake ad, and you can see it here if you like:

Thanks for classing up the joint, Miss K!
Your Nut Farm sure is purty.
I’m glad Bonnie is giving your short order skills a rest. Good doggie.
Pam–the redwood building is a screened gazebo with an outdoor dining table. Feels like you are outside, but no bugs!
I wish going to bed at night felt exactly like it feels when the alarm clock goes off.
Kathi, your property is BEAUTIFUL! And you have the best comments ever.
I forgot to mention, your nut farm is beautiful. It is much more picturesque than my loony bin.
Your property is absolutely fabulous. So glad Bonnie’s feeling better!
I’m so annoyed that my brilliantly original upcoming blog post about sleep is just part of a trend! I can’t deny I’m first in line for the trendwagon. That’s the problem with being right in the fat middle of the baby boom – nothing we do can ever be unique.
No pics of the green house??? Or the chicken palace??? Why do you hate me so?
I have to admit that I am a huge fan of the nap. I have taken two today:)
I have to agree, I’m a HUGE nap-addict. Some people are addicted to smoking, drugs, gambling, or alcohol. Not me, give me a good, solid nap each day and I’m fine.
Thanx,
Els
