Hard times, hard times

by Kathi D on January 19, 2010

We are having a lot of rain and wind, which is supposed to go on all week! In California, we go on Storm Watch when there is a half inch of rain coming, so you can imagine how atwitter we are about this.

Worse yet, the power went out this morning, which, in this all-electric house means no TV, telephone, or internet. After about an hour of this severe deprivation, Rick said, “Now I know how those people in Haiti feel.”

But seriously now, take yourself shopping on Etsy at Craft Hope for Haiti, the brilliant brainchild of Sarah at Craft Hope. Crafters from all over are donating items to be sold in the shop, with all proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.

People helping each other is the silver lining in the clouds of despair, and the thing that keeps us all from giving up hope in a world that sometimes feels all too fragile.

I love Kathi D. If you were stuck in your own “Haiti” I’d join the rescue team……Diet Coke would be there too!

I wish I lived somewhere that there was no extreme weather. I envy you! Even with no electricity. Here I have to keep my storm helmet handy at all times and my bathtub clean so Lucy and I can jump in it at a moments notice to avoid tornadoes and flying cows!

This is really a great way to help Haiti. Thanks for letting me know about it.
