Oh my, how to sum up the staycation. Well, there really is no way. I’ll have to give it to you a little at a time, and chances are it won’t be in chronological order, but I do absolutely guarantee that it will have no relevance to your life whatsoever. So just scoot right back from the edge of your seat there.
We spent a few days huddled in one room while the house was taken over by painters. They had plastic walls taped up everywhere so that every time we needed to go to the bathroom, it was like being in that scene in E.T. when all the scientists were at the house and E.T. was dying. So, you know, totally awesome.
In the middle of that came the return of the refrigerator repairman. The refrigerator had gone back to freezing the ice cream as hard as granite and leaving the Diet Coke as warm as cat pee. It’s working again, and it’s amazing how refreshing a truly cold beverage can be after you have been without for a while. While I’m on the subject of appliance repair, I have to report that the plastic dog food can lid is still inside the oven door, where it will probably remain for All Time, since it hasn’t killed us in a conflagration yet.
It’s hard to take a picture of what the painters were painting, but suffice to say that our former living room and dining room now have bookshelves floor to ceiling practically everywhere. I read in a book once, “Her idea of ‘decorating’ was to add another bookshelf.” That describes Rick and me to a T. Never enough book space.

Oh. I see that I am boring Brooklyn.

End of The Staycation, Part One.

I love the wall of bookshelves. I totally want to put one in my studio, when/if I get it.

I gotta say, a hammock in the middle of the library is a bloody excellent idea
Hilarious and clever…never thought to put a hammock inside my house…looks darn comfy!

I have bookshelves everywhere…even one whole room dedicated to bookshelves (okay, so there may be a TV in there, too. I’m not an android. Actually, I don’t even know what I mean by that). And every one of the shelves is filled. So I hope you build enough. I’m totally borrowing that quote.

LOVE the bookshelves, that freaking awesome hammock and holy moly have the puppies gotten big and yet remain so so so cute!
I love the bookcases. In my next life I want a whole room with nothing but bookcases and chairs and a fridge for the beer and diet Dr. Pepper!
