Dogs & pests & Big Red & Little Mac

by Kathi D on November 12, 2008

Brooklyn and Barkley started a new school term last Saturday, and I hate to brag, but . . . Actually, this isn’t really a brag, it’s more of an admission. One of their fellow students is a little black Scottie named Angus, who just happens to be a grandson of Barney Bush. Yes, that Barney Bush, the very one who bit a reporter last week in the Rose Garden.

We keep our distance.

On the wildlife front, the neighborhood mountain lion has been sighted again, so the dogs go on semi-lockdown after dark. I have the whole property surrounded with Niteguard lights, and I guess they work, because no mountain lion has killed us yet. The dang cougar has cut into my 2 a.m. hot tub sessions, though.

Also, tarantula season is still on. The migration is supposed to happen in September, but a few of them must have decided to stick around. The puppies found one the other day and before I could rescue it, they had gone all Of Mice and Men on it and loved it to death.

Big Red (Not His Real Nickname) and Little Mac (I Made That Up, Too) stopped by the other day to chuck the puppies under the chin. Awwwwwwwwww.

Yours is the second post I’ve seen this week to showcase a tarantula. I’m so very glad to live in Michigan.

You just had to put that spider on here didn’t you! Thanks in advance for the nightmares.

Can we get a front view of Little Mac? I need to see who my little Brooklyn is cozying up to.

Awesome tarantula! We thought the wolf spider we spotted last week was a tarantula at first, but your photo shows the differences clearly.

That’s one nice tarantula! He’s pretty! I used to have a pet scorpion, but he died. I don’t keep em anymore.
