Pains and plaints, a Saturday stew

by Kathi D on March 8, 2008

I have a few loose ends to tie up before (gasp!) Unplugged Sunday the First, so here goes:

  • The loom is actually kind of cool, and I think it’s a good Easter basket item. I’m sure the average 4-year-old will have more success with it than I will. I am having trouble with the little pegs coming loose as I go, so before I start anything else with it, I’m going to glue the pegs in with E-6000.
  • Which reminds me. E-6000 RULES. I can’t tell you the things I have glued with it. Seriously, I can’t tell you, because some of it may have been illegal. All I can say is, that kid totally deserved it.
  • I have to go with Rick to his high school reunion dinner tonight. That may kill me before Unplugged Sunday can. I really think people should do these things alone, but he wants me to go, and also I don’t trust those high school hussy divorcees who might be on the prowl for a man who still has all his hair and is gainfully employed.

  • Seen on the streets of Los Angeles:

  • A good kind of pain (yok yok, “pain,” get it?), I just got my copy of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day, and I’m looking forward to lots of good fresh crusty bread. I’ll report back.
  • As for my other pain(s) and aches, my sewing injury is improving a little with rest. Carrie kindly suggested a chiropractor visit, and I’m nearly there, dude. The only drawback is that my chiropractor is in the country and I’m in the Cit-ay, but next week I’ll be back in the country, woo hoo! and under the healing hands of Dr. Pam.
  • I leave you with the following AP news item, just because.

Police find woman’s body on ice in Newport Beach hotel room

    Associated Press Writer

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) The body of a woman packed in dry ice was found in a hotel room when police served a search warrant in a cocaine investigation, authorities said Friday.

Detectives found the fully clothed and ”well preserved” body late Thursday after arresting a guest at the Fairmont Newport Beach for investigation of selling and possessing cocaine on the hotel grounds, police Sgt. Evan Sailor said.

When they searched Stephen David Royds’ room, they found the body inside a large Rubbermaid container filled with dry ice, he said.

    ”It’s definitely weird,” Sailor said.
